    When it comes to the Winter months you may find yourself twiddling your thumbs a little thinking ‘surely there is some gardening to be done?’. Well you’re not alone in the thought. British Winter time leaves all us gardeners a little lost for tasks. The cold temperatures and dark evenings mean gardening is pretty much a write off for a couple of month’s surrounding the festive season. Though the usual planting and tending tasks are limited there are things you can be doing this December to prepare your garden for the New Year.

    Warmer longer days, time to get in the garden. There is so much to do after the wet Winter. Spring begins on the 20th March 2015 which is certainly a date to look forward to. We are hoping for the worst of the weather to be over and for a magnificent display of plants and life to arrive with Spring. It's time start preparing seed beds for sowing and removing any signs of Winter from your garden.

    Happy New Year, indeed it can be for your garden! We believe the horticultural staff at Van Hage are not the only gardeners that getting excited with each new year. Soon enough it’ll be Spring, the season of renewal and growth and of course great gardening. In the meantime there are a number of things you can be doing this January to keep your garden in tiptop shape as we start the new year. January is often celebrated as a time of change and aspirations, why not consider these fresh outlooks when it comes to your garden. Plan ahead to Summer and begin to imagine the life you are soon to inject into the natural space.
